A Look Into the Program
Over the past eight years, TFI’s internship program has welcomed 34 interns, with two of them now serving in senior management roles. Below, you’ll find Ryan and Megan—both former interns who have grown into management positions within the organization. We’re also excited to share stories from recent interns who returned to TFI after completing their studies.

“TFI looks at the individual, identifies what the business needs may be, and creates a role to best integrate the candidate with the position
I started my journey with TFI in 2013. I discovered the company through my co-op program at Wilfred Laurier University. Before starting my role in the company, I had minimal managerial experience. After being interviewed with Contrans, several factors sparked my interest such as flexibility, opportunity, as well as the ability to understand how a business operates. Beginning immediately, I was presented with a project to help install and activate software within the fleet. At the time, this was new software, and a previous group failed at doing this successfully. Contrans trusted my individual abilities as an intern and let me run the project on my own. The transportation industry allowed me to get involved with the newest projects throughout my time within the company.
My abilities to use my technical, leadership, and business skills at TFI challenged the traditional views surrounding the transportation industry. TFI looks at the individual skillset, identifies what the business needs may be, and creates a role to best integrate the candidate with the position. I was encouraged to return to TFI after being provided the opportunity to take a leadership role during my internship experience. Being provided the ability to utilize and grow my skillset while in the transportation industry and at TFI allowed me to understand the fundamental principles of a business and have allowed me to become the successful business manager I am today.
